Search Engine Trends and the Environment in Korea
Naver, Daum, and Yahoo! Korea are the top three Korean search engines. They dominate the market with nearly 90% of the market share. Empas, Nate, and Paran constitute the rest. All these Korean search engines are portals that not only provide search services but also various types of contents, including mail, blogs, news, images, cafés, streaming services, etc.
After Google entered Korea, domestic search engines began to improve their search quality.
Major Korean Search Engines
So far Korean Search Engines have concentrated more on Paid AD than natural (organic) search listings. Consequently, search result pages are filled with many kinds of paid ad programs. For many general keyword terms, more than 50% of search listings is from different paid ads.

After Google entered to Korea, domestic search engines started to improve their search quality.
